The Banisters visit Texas

We were so excited to have our dear friends and old neighbors come all the way down from Kansas to stay with us for a few days last weekend. So many fun memories were made and its so sweet to see the bonds formed just over one weekend. We always have so much fun spending time with their family. They came in late Thursday evening and it was so cute seeing all the boys in matching pajamas the next morning.

We spent Friday morning hanging around the house. At lunch time, we had a babysitter come over to be with the kids (Jonah’s preschool teacher, who is fabulous), so we could go to Six Flags.  I was a little worried that we would only get to ride a few rides due to lines, but we seriously had little to no wait. We rode everything we wanted in the 3 hours we were there…I may have rode one too many, because the last ride I didn’t even dare to open my eyes for the fear of getting sick. 😂 It also was so hot, so I don’t think that helped. We survived, but left feeling old and tired and came home and had to jump in the pool. We spent the evening swimming and eating tacos of course!

Saturday late morning, we got ready and headed to Fort Worth, but first tic tac toe.

We had to take them to see the Cattle Drive at The Stockyards.

And then for some BBQ on Magnolia street. This street has easily become a favorite, and I’m hoping we can hit up all the restaurants over here eventually. We had to wait in line in the heat for some time, but it was totally worth it! Heim Barbecue is the place if you are interested. Everything I tasted was amazing!

We came home and let the kids rest and then spent the remainder of the evening swimming, grilling, eating all the watermelon + homemade ice cream + rice krispie treats (and Amanda and I drinking all the daiquiris).  Just what we needed after a hot day!

Sunday, we took everyone to church, which we are so thankful we found last September. We love our church so much and I know its right where we are meant to be! The message was so good and real! After lunch, we had to hit up the TX flag mural and Logan took some photos for us, and then we headed to Mellow Mushroom for lunch. The Banisters headed home from there after we ate. I sure do miss them already, but so thankful for the meaningful and intentional time we get together even if its short!
